UPDATED: Suspicious package forces closure of Hampshire station

UPDATE: Lines have now reopened after the package was deemed non-suspicious

A suspicious package at station has meant that the station has had to be closed.

All lines through the station are closed whilst specialist teams assess the item, with disruption expected until 3pm today (03/04).

says that officers were called to the station this morning following reports of a suspicious package.

“British Transport Police were called to Basingstoke railway station at around 8.16am today (3 April) following reports of a suspicious package. Specialist officers are in attendance to assess the item, and the station is currently closed while the incident is ongoing.”
