Spectacular Italian cars to be on view at the Severn Valley Railway

On Sunday, 28 April, in collaboration with the Italian AutoMoto Club, Station will host its first ‘Italian Autorail’ event with a fine display of iconic Italian cars..

The Italian AutoMoto Club is an independent group of enthusiasts who have a common bond with their love of Italian two- and four-wheeled vehicles.

Although there are other Italian car and bike clubs, many do not have enough members in particular areas to make it viable to hold local meetings or social activities.

By bringing them together in events such as Italian Autorail, it becomes possible for like-minded enthusiasts to get together.

The club has staged events in Bridgnorth before, but never at .

For this event, the club will get together on one of the railway’s regular steam-hauled trains for a return trip to , with a break at on the return journey.

On display will be a wide range of Italian vehicles, including practically every model of Ferrari and the latest Lamborghinis as well as numerous vintage models from both manufacturers.

At Bridgnorth station, there will be a dedicated area for the Italian AutoMoto Club vehicles. That opens at 10.00, in plenty of time for the steam-hauled “Italian Express” to depart at 11.15 to Kidderminster where it is scheduled to arrive at 12.20.

The return train will depart from Kidderminster at 13.10 to Bewdley where it will arrive at 13.22 for 1¾ hour break until 15.05 when the train to Bridgnorth departs, arriving there at 15.50.

To ensure security, volunteer marshals will remain in the Bridgnorth parking area while the “Italian Express” travels to Kidderminster and back.

The Severn Valley Railway ‘Freedom of the Line’ tickets allow visitors to travel all day, stopping off at every station and including a visit to The Engine House at .

These cost £25 for adults and £16.50 for children aged 4 to 17 when booked online over three days in advance, £28.50 for adults and £18.50 for children when booked less than three days in advance, and £32 for adults and £21 for children when purchased on the day.

The next major events at the Severn Valley Railway is the Spring Steam Gala from Thursday, 18 to Sunday 21 April, and the Spring Diesel Festival from Thursday, 16 to Sunday 19 May.
