In the last 12 months, the Airport Express service has grown by more than 50% since its new Luton DART shuttle service.

Luton Airport Express has carried 575,997 passengers, providing a link from the south to Luton Airport.

It takes as little as 32 minutes from Central to the terminal and costs from just £10.

It was recently announced that the Class 360 trains that operate the service will receive a refurb, meaning better luggage space for passengers along with other upgrades.

“It has been a great year for the Luton Airport Express and our efforts to market the service has really paid off.

“We have seen the number of customers grow steadily as people discover the convenience the service offers—in fact, the number of journeys has grown by more than 50 percent since the service linked up with the DART.

“Many customers have taken advantage of our £10 fares and have been impressed with the frequency of the service, with trains running every half-hour.

“The speed of getting from Central London to the and seamlessly connecting to the airport via the Luton DART really does take the stress out of travelling to the airport, and with the multimillion-pound refurbishment project now underway, customers will be set to benefit from an even better experience.”

  1. East Midlands Railway should still refurbish the Class 360/1s with new seat covers, interiors, handrails painted in EMR Purple colours and new passenger information screens to replace the matrix dot passenger information system.
