Vintage Trains has provided an update on their tour running on the 10th May, between Birmingham and Plymouth and the 11th May tour between Plymouth and London.
It is 60 years since Clun Castle hauled the train from Plymouth to Bristol to take the fastest ever run in 133 minutes and 9 seconds – reaching a top speed of 96mph.
Vintage Trains has said that the reporting numbers for the tour are expected to be 1Z48 as per 1964.
The operator has also said that they will be a control office on board so that performance can be monitored in real time.
Advice to passengers wishing to book is ‘don’t wait’.
Vintage trains has reconfigured the formation of the train to accommodate more people.
Two brake carriages have been removed along with the buffet mini bar so that First Class availability can be increased and add a further 64 tourist seats.
7029 Clun Castle is expected to haul the tour and is also expected to carry a Go Pro camera on the front of the locomotive to record any incidents involving trespass.
More information on the tour can be found on the Vintage Trains website.

Good idea as idiots will end up getting killed or injured.
Unfortunately if they wear a hat and a face mask, the images are going to be pretty useless and inadmissible.
These people think they are above the law and feel hard done by if they get arrested. Cameras are a good idea but will only work if they are known or the pictures are very high quality. Sadly mounting a sniper on the loco is illegal but it is the only thing some of these idiots will understand
About time a charter operator carried a Go-Pro to record the lineside observers that think the can go onto the railway tracks to get their shot
Vintage trains should be applauded for being the first to do this
I totally agree, I was on a rail tour pulled by 4472 , got delayed by 3 hours due to idiots on the track, I believe it has since been fitted with cameras.
