ÖBB Rail Cargo Group, the freight transport division of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), has increased services on some of its most popular routes, from Germany and Austria to Italy, Slovenia, and Hungary.

The increase in services comes soon after the company announced the expansion of its services to Turkey and between Austria and Germany with Rotterdam.

Vienna, Austria and Verona, Italy

Regular services of containers and swap bodies already operate between the Vienna South CCT terminal and the Sommacampagna-Sona terminal near Verona.

A new TransFER service has been introduced operating to a fixed timetable with shorter transit times to one of the strongest economic regions in Northern Italy, and can accommodate containers between 20 and 45 feet and swap bodies (WAB) between 25 and 45.

Duisburg, Germany and Ljubljana, Slovenia

The current TransFER service between Duisburg in Germany and Ljubljana in Slovenia via Villach in Austria has increased from four to five services per week.

Neuss, Germany and Budapest, Hungary

Services between Neuss in Germany and Budapest in Hungary have been increased from three to five round trips per week. These services accommodate containers between 20 and 45 feet, swap bodies between 25 and 45 feet, and craneable and non-craneable trailers.

Burghausen, Germany and Trieste, Italy

A new maritime connection has been established for TransFER services between Burghausen in southern Germany and Trieste in Italy with a weekly intermodal block train.

This started running at the beginning of April, with one round trip a week operating between the UBF terminal at Burghausen and the CMR terminal at Trieste on the Adriatic Sea.

The service can transport 20-foot and 40-foot containers as well as dangerous goods (RID).

The new and increased services are in response to more demand for rail transport solutions in the Bavarian and Austrian markets.

Burghausen in Bavaria is a vital hub for freight services between Germany, Austria and other European economic centres, whilst Trieste on the Adriatic is an important gateway between Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region and transhipment to the Far East.

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group TransFER services operate about 60 TransFER services that provide over 1,500 possible combinations and routes for transporting freight throughout the Eurasian continent.

Its services can transport a variety of loads from entire wagon-loads and intermodal shipments to services that are tailored to customer requirements.

The company can also provide additional services, including freight forwarding, transhipment, warehousing, logistics and customs services.
