The Talyllyn Railway has launched a new major appeal to raise £500,000 over the next five years so that they can build for the future.
It is nearly 75 years now since the railway became The World’s First Preserved Railway and it has become clear that replacements are now needed.
The ‘Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future’ appeal looks to provide:
- New engineering facilities at Tywyn Pendre
- New carriage storage and maintenance facilities
- A paint shop that can be used all year
- Refurbishment of the locomotive shed and workshop
- Visitor access to the original workshops
- A new accessible and visible entrance to Wharf station
- Enlarged shop and cafe facilities
- New attractions that help tell the history of the railway
This is all expected to cost the railway around £4m over the next 5 to 6 years, and the Talyllyn Railway is inviting the public to join The 75 Club by regularly donating to the appeal.
You can join the 75 Club by donating just £5 a month by direct debit, with benefits of becoming part of the club.
More details on how to donate can be found on the Talyllyn Railway website.
