As with other train operators throughout the country, West Midlands Railway (WMR) train services will be disrupted by industrial action until next Tuesday, 6 February.

This weekend, Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 February, there will be no West Midlands Railway train services due to members of the ASLEF union taking industrial action by imposing an overtime ban.

West Midlands Railway has also introduced an amended timetable that will apply today Friday 2 February, and next Monday, 5 and Tuesday, 6 February. Services that are scheduled to run on these dates may be subject to change, or cancelled at short-notice.

The effect of the amended timetable is as follows:

• Between Leamington Spa and Nuneaton via Coventry – buses will replace trains;
• Between Birmingham and Hereford and Birmingham and Shrewsbury – there will be fewer services;
• Between Birmingham New Street and Rugeley – the last service of the day scheduled to depart at 11.22 pm service will not run.

Other train operators are also being affected by the industrial action, but on different days for different operators. Anyone intending to travel during this period should check how their journey may be affected by clicking here.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “Industrial action is designed to be disruptive to passengers and it is extremely disappointing that the impact of this action means we are unable to operate any services this weekend.

“Passengers holding tickets for travel for either Saturday or Sunday will be able to use them on an alternative day or claim a full refund. Information is available on our website.

“I also urge passengers travelling during the period of the overtime ban to check their journeys before setting out as services may be subject to short-notice cancellation. I also urge passengers not to rely on late services as last trains may be earlier than usual.”
