International digital rail ticketing platform, Trainline, is taking its advertising to the SuperBowl this weekend (11th Feb) as part of an ongoing campaign to encourage American tourists to travel by train when they visit the UK.
The six-week campaign will see adverts shown on screens at key US international airport terminals to raise awareness of train travel in both the UK and Europe.
Trainline is also an advertising partner with Reach TV which also officially partners NFL and will see a 30-second advert shown in the commercial breaks during the SuperBowl – which is thought to be a first for the UK rail industry!
The ongoing campaign has also seen collaborations with celebrities such as David Hasselhoff and Tan France alongside a takeover event at Grand Central Station in New York City.
Recent data from Trainline has revealed that the 20 most popular train routes in Europe include:
- London to Edinburgh
- London to Paris
- London to Manchester
- London to Oxford
The SuperBowl has a near-mythical status in US culture and airports are no exception, with travellers crowding round screens to watch the big game. That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of the action for the first time, promoting train travel in the UK and Europe to this targeted audience of American travellers. Demand for train tickets from US tourists has been at record levels, and we are working hard to keep growing this market and to encourage more American visitors to hop onboard trains while they are over here.
