The Blackford level crossing in Perthshire is set to undergo a temporary closure for seven days to facilitate maintenance and upgrade works.
These improvements include the installation of new rails, sleepers, and ballast, with the project being carried out by Rail Systems Alliance Scotland on behalf of Network Rail.
The scheduled closure will begin at 22:00 on Friday, February 9, and conclude at 09:00 on Sunday, February 18.
To ensure the completion of all necessary follow-up work, an additional closure is planned from 00:30 until 09:00 on Sunday, March 17.
To accommodate all vehicles and pedestrians affected by the closure, a diversion route will be established along the A9 in both directions.
This measure aims to minimize disruption and ensure safety while the essential upgrades are completed.
David Johnson, Project Manager, Network Rail, said “The work at Blackford will make the level crossing more reliable, while requiring less maintenance and reducing disruption to both passengers and users of the crossing.
“Our thanks go to the community for their patience and understanding while we complete this vital work.”
