Manchester trams to be disrupted this Sunday

Tram services through Manchester Victoria will be severely disrupted this Sunday, 25 February, whilst more engineering works take place in connection with a cracked rail that was removed last month.

Only trams on the , Airport, and and Rochdale lines will be affected, and trams on these routes will terminate at Queens Road and Monsall respectively.

A shuttle bus service will run between Queens Road and Monsall and the city centre, whilst all other lines operate as normal.

Engineers will schedule their work so that services will return to normal on Monday, 26 February.
Details of the changes to Manchester’s Metrolink tram services on Sunday are as follows:

  • Engineering works will affect the Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, and Airport lines.
  • Replacement bus services will operate between Piccadilly and Queens Road, and between Victoria and Central Park.
  • Passengers travelling on the Airport line can travel to and from the city centre via Cornbrook.

Tram services will operate between the following stops:

  • Bury and Queens Road
  • Rochdale Town Centre and Monsall
  • East Didsbury and Exchange Square
  • and Cornbrook
  • Trafford Centre and -Castlefield
  • and Etihad Campus
  • Ashton-under-Lyne and Eccles via MediaCityUK
  • Replacement bus services will operate every fifteen minutes as follows
  • Queens Road to Victoria/Shudehill/Piccadilly Gardens/Piccadilly.
  • Central Park/Monsall/Victoria.

Anyone intending to travel on Metrolink this weekend is advised to check the latest tram departure times and TfGM’s travel alerts hub for the latest information.

Danny Vaughan, TfGM’s Head of Metrolink, said: “Safety is our top priority and following the removal of some damaged rail at Victoria, further engineering works are needed on Sunday.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and will have replacement buses running for people coming in on the Bury or Rochdale and Oldham lines and wanting to get into the city.”
