The Steam Railway has announced its reopening after winter maintenance.

However, work is continuing on the Stanway Viaduct and means that, to begin the season, no trains will run to or from , with services running to Broadway from Mid-April.

Due to increased security at the National Hunt Racecourse in the run up to and after the Festival, only passengers with pre-booked tickets will be able to join and leave the train at on either the weekend of 9th – 10th and 16th – 17th March.

There will be no access by car or foot to the station for turn up and ride visitors.

Catherine Johnson, the GWSR’s Marketing Manager says: “The railway and racecourse are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause but we hope that customers will join us via our other stations.

“Toddington, Winchcombe and Gotherington stations remain open. There is no parking at Gotherington (but is ideal for walkers), very limited parking at Winchcombe while there is plenty of free car parking at Toddington. I strongly advise everyone planning to travel, to join their train at Toddington.”

  1. John Dickerson needn’t worry, these are standard running days for the railway and not Gala days. The steam gala is 25th – 27th May.

  2. A big event such as a race meeting at a huge place is a security headache when we live in difficult times with threats to National Security. Fingers crossed for a successful reopening and a Race Event.
