Greater Anglia is continuing to warn passengers this morning not travel between and Harling Road after a train derailed over night.

The operator says that the train which derailed is from another operator, but cannot run trains between and Cambridge.

East Midlands Railway says that they have been working with throughout the night, and have said that the route looks set to be closed for the remainder of the day

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said that they ‘have no estimate of when the line will reopen’

A Police spokesperson said that officers had attended the incident, which left one person with minor injuries – no other injuries have been reported.

The latest travel advice can be found here.

The Greater Anglia statement reads “Train services between Norwich and Cambridge have been suspended, train services between Norwich and Stansted Airport will only operate between Cambridge and Stansted Airport. At present we have no estimate of when the line will reopen”

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police last night said “Our officers are at the scene supporting & Network Rail. One passenger with minor injury looked after by ambulance colleagues but no other injuries. Fire also on scene. Network Rail arranging transport for passengers to complete their journeys to Norwich.”

  1. Ask Network Rail how many staff have the word ‘Manager’ in their job title and how many of those actually ‘Manage Staff’ that is hsv4 staff report directly to them.

Then you will get a clue as to their inefficiencies

    1. The Norwich to London service runs on the Great Eastern Mainline (I.e. via Ipswich and Colchester), so your journey shouldn’t be affected.

  2. Network rail have no money to maintain the standard requirements to run trains as the tickets money is going to the train operating companies, bring it back in house and safety will be first priority

    1. It’s not networks rail fault.
You could actually see the EMR by the side of the road as your travelling down the A11 earlier today…
An object was blown onto the line and unfortunately got under the front wheels and derailed the front wheels. They are hoping to move the train today at extreme slow speed but apart from that I don’t know much else.

      1. Quite incorrect Ian. The money is going to shareholders & consultants. Network Rail waste millions upon millions of tax payers pounds hiring in consultants for work they should be doing themselves, after all they’ve been running the railway for years. Ow, so why don’t they have the right staff to do the job? Think about it, then think about how many workers you see actually working as opposed to standing around doing nothing! As for the ticket money, that goes to shareholders l, often abroad. Why do the Dutch run trains in the uk? What an utter corrupt shambles, ripping off the tax payer again!
