TransPennine Express services to be severely affected by Storm Jocelyn

With yet another named storm set to hit the UK, TransPennine Express (TPE) has strongly advised anyone wishing to travel between England and not to travel after 3 pm today, Tuesday, 23 January.

Weather forecasters predict that Storm Jocelyn will bring high winds and heavy rainfall, which will likely cause major disruption to services in and out of Scotland.

Because of a large number of yellow and amber weather warnings in place, TransPennine Express is advising customers not to attempt to travel after 3 pm on Tuesday, 23 January until noon on Wednesday 24 January on the following routes:

As well as services to Scotland, the storm is expected to affect services across the rest of the network. Customers are recommended to check before they travel, and details of specific service updates can be found on JourneyCheck by clicking here.

The status of services can be found on the TransPennine Express website at www.tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates or at www.nationalrail.co.uk

Anyone with a ticket for travel today, Tuesday 23 or tomorrow, Wednesday 24 January for services between , Liverpool, and Preston to , Glasgow and Edinburgh, and between Newcastle and Edinburgh who decides not to travel can claim a full refund. Anyone whose journey is delayed may be entitled to compensation; more information can be found here.

“We are urging anyone travelling across the affected routes to plan ahead, allow extra time, check their journey up until the last minute, and follow the guidance provided.”
