To help make a day out on the more affordable, regular fares on the line have been frozen at last year’s levels.

Walkers and cyclists can now take advantage of single or return tickets between any number of stations on the line.

0Standardised pricing has been introduced for these tickets, but they can only be purchased on the day of travel from at booking offices.

Tickets for shorter journeys which allow passengers to make a return journey along part of the 16-mile route remain at lower prices and will continue to be available.

They proved particularly popular last year with customers who didn’t wish to spend a whole day on the railway, who wanted to visit a specific area, or who were travelling with younger children.

Day tickets are now on sale for all dates until October half-term. The best value continues to be the freedom-of-the-line tickets which allow unlimited journeys along the full whole line throughout the day. Adult fares booked in advance start from £25.

For those wishing to visit the line on multiple occasions, Unlimited Passes are available for individuals, couples, families, and anyone needing to travel with a carer. These Unlimited Passes are limited to travel during the current season but are valid for a full 12 months from the date of purchase.

As well as allowing unlimited visits on normal operating days, Unlimited Passes offer extras such as 10% discount in refreshment rooms and shops, discounts on special event tickets, and the chance to bring up to two dogs free of charge.

Details and prices for all types of tickets for travel on the Severn Valley Railway, including the Unlimited Pass, can be found online at svr.co.uk.

The next special event on te railway will be a visit by the Gruffalo from 13 to 15 February.

Lewis Maddox, the Severn Valley Railway’s visitor engagement manager, said “We’ve worked really hard to make sure we have a range of tickets to match the needs of all our visitors.

“Whether you’re travelling alone or with a family, whether you want a full day out or just a quick hop from one station to the next, we’ve got you covered.

“We’re particularly pleased that we’ve been able to keep most of our day tickets at the same price as last year. Prices are rising all around us, so this was something we really wanted to do to help out our visitors and ensure as many people as possible can enjoy a trip on our amazing trains.”
