Just Trains has announced that it has released an Add-on to South Western Main Line: Route for Train Sim Classic that extends the route from Southampton to Salisbury by 36 miles.

The 36 miles in this Add-on includes the route from Salisbury by both the direct route via and and the line to Romsey via Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford.

Prospective purchasers should note that while it utilises the ‘ South Western Main Line: Southampton – Bournemouth Route Add-on as a base, that isn’t included in the release and the Dovetail Games route is required for the extension to operate.

Included in the add-on are ten scenarios, 12 stations, numerous features of interest along the route, and the now-disused line to Quidhampton quarry. It also includes seventeen scenarios, but these require additional payware.

This release includes improvements to the Kuju Class 165/166 to provide more realistic scenarios. Their default livery has been improved and there are two new liveries as well as variations for the two classes. The driving experience has been greatly improved, with features normally seen in rolling stock to provide more realistic handling using both manufacturer and real-world driver data.

Other improvements to the base functionality have fixed issues such as the AWS warning sound not looping and the AWS sunflower not being visible at night. Key features of the new release include:

  • First Great Western ‘Dynamic Lines’ and plain blue (Class 166 only), and Great Western Railway green liveries
  • Realistic acceleration and braking;
  • Correctly-simulated emergency braking situations;
  • Automatic unit numbering;
  • Controllable destination panel;
  • Improvements to cab functionality, train exterior, and sounds.
