The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has said it will be investigating an incident whereby a train collided with a road-rail vehicle access point in Lincolnshire.
On the 19th December 2023, at around 06:03am, a train travelling between Doncaster and London Kings Cross struck parts of a temporary road-rail vehicle access point that had been left on the track near Highdyke Junction on the East Coast Main Line.
The access point had been used the previous night as part of overhead power line inspections.
No one was injured in the collision, and the train did not derail, but did cause damage to the underside of the train, and meant it could not continue its service.
A safety digest will be published surrounding the incident and this will be available in the next few weeks.
