Police appeal for help after hate crime on train in Lancashire

British Transport Police detectives have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may have information that can help them with their enquiries into a hate crime incident onboard a train in .

If anyone recognises the man in the photograph, they are asked to contact the police with the relevant information.

The incident happened at about 11.30 am on Tuesday, 19 December on a train travelling between and Preston railway stations in Lancashire.

It is reported that a lady had boarded the train at Chorley and sat down on the train in front of two men. About five minutes later, the woman is alleged to have heard one of the men making antisemitic comments on his mobile phone.

When the man noticed that the lady was looking at him, he put his phone away but proceeded to make threats of an antisemitic nature and used foul language towards her.
The train arrived at Preston station about five minutes later, where both the woman and the two men got off the train.

Officers believe the man in the photograph may have information that can help with their investigation and would like to speak to him or anyone who thinks they recognise him or has information that they believe could help their investigation into the incident.
