The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth in Derbyshire has issued an Invitation to Tender for the supply and erection of a four-bay modular building with approximate overall dimensions of 32 feet x 20 feet.
The Invitation to Tender was made possible after the railway was awarded a grant by the Derbyshire Environmental Trust Ltd which was supported by the Tarmac Ltd Landfill Communities Fund for the purchase and installation of a new building at Wirksworth Station.
The successful tenderer will be required to supply, install, connect, seal, and trim the building on prepared foundations at Wirksworth Station in Derbyshire, postcode DE4 4FB.
Anyone interested in submitting a tender should contact Steve Orchard, Trustee of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association by email to [email protected] stating their best price exclusive of VAT. Any questions about the tender should also be sent to the same contact.
The closing date for tender submission is Friday, 9th February 2024.
The headquarters of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is at Wirksworth station, and trains operate from Wirksworth to Duffield and from Wirksworth to Ravenstor. Between Wirksworth and Duffield there are intermediate stations at Idridgehay and Shottle.
At Duffield, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway services connect with East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham, Derby, and Matlock. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway platform has been carefully reconstructed and is adjacent to the main line platform.
A separate ½-mile branch runs from Wirksworth Station up a 1 in 27 gradient to Ravenstor where there is the National Stone Centre and access to the High Peak Trail.
Services on the line are operated by a large fleet of heritage diesel multiple units and visiting diesel and steam locomotives.
