Southeastern has introduced sTickets, which are digital season tickets which enable rail customers to purchase a season ticket using their smartphone. The tickets are ideal for those who make regular journeys using Southeastern, such as for work or education purposes and offer a fantastic way to buy a season ticket without the need to queue.
The purchase of sTickets can be carried out securely using the rail operator’s website or app, which is available via Google Play and the Apple App Store. Once purchased, the digital season ticket is sent directly to the customer’s phone and stored in the Southeastern app, where it can be used straight away. As sTickets are purchased directly from the rail operator, there are no booking fees. The app also features the latest travel information.
The following tickets are available to buy as sTickets:
- Weekly Season tickets
- Monthly Season tickets
- Custom period Season tickets (for those longer than Monthly or shorter than Annual)
- Annual Season tickets
- Flexi Season tickets
- Child Season tickets
The digital season tickets can be purchased for most of the Southeastern routes, but not where tickets allow travel using Transport for London services. sTickets are also available for travel on non-Southeastern services where enabled by the relevant train operating company.
sTickets also support Southeastern’s aims to improve the railway in order to attract more people to travel by train whilst making the network more reliable and sustainable.
Southeastern has recently carried out upgrades to its 292 ticket vending machines which will support customers to buy tickets between any two stations in England, Wales or Scotland.

Alicia Andrews, Southeastern’s Commercial Director, said:
“sTickets are a fantastic new product and will help many of our regular customers to save time and make it even easier to buy their season ticket and keep it safe and secure on their smartphone.”
“You don’t need to use a ticket machine or queue up at a station – you can simply buy your ticket on your phone and it is ready to go straight away. sTickets also have new in-built technology to prevent fraud and ensure they cannot be shared.”
“We are always looking for new ways to support our growing railway and becoming the first train operator in the UK to accept and retail Flexi tickets as sTicket is another step towards providing a better, more reliable and sustainable railway and are available right now.”
