ScotRail is reminding rail travellers that a new timetable comes into effect next Sunday, 10 December, and customers should check their journey for any changes.

Among the changes will be:

• Introduction of Class 380 electric trains on local services between Barrhead and Glasgow Central.
• An hourly service on the Cathcart Circle throughout the day, Monday to Saturday to provide nearly twice the number of services calling at Langside, Pollokshaws East, Shawlands, Maxwell Park, and Pollokshields West
• Eighteen extra limited-stop services between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Shotts each day, Monday to Saturday, provide Livingston South, West Calder, and Shotts with fast journey opportunities and more convenient connections to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
• A new half-hourly service between Gourock and Glasgow Central on Sundays.
• Changes between Dundee and Inverurie, with improvements to service reliability, particularly at local stations between Dundee and Aberdeen.
• Additional stops on services between Glasgow Queen Street and Aberdeen, and Edinburgh Waverley and Aberdeen to provide new opportunities for direct journeys between Angus and Aberdeenshire.
• A reduction in local services in the northeast, but there will be better connections with Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, and.
  ScotRail s Dunbar to Edinburgh services will now call at East Linton when the new station opens and at Wallyford to provide access to its mobility hub.
• A trial of a later service between Inverness and Elgin, departing Inverness at 22:12 in addition to the current 21:34 Inverness to Aberdeen service.

Because some train times may have changed, customers are advised to check their journey times on the ScotRail website
at scotrail.co.uk, the ScotRail app, or through social media channels. Timetables can also be downloaded from the ScotRail website.

David Simpson, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said: “Our December timetable change represents another step in our ongoing commitment to deliver the best service we can, and encourage more people to choose rail travel instead of using the car, particularly during our off-peak all day fares trial.

“From the introduction of electric trains to increased frequency on key routes and enhanced service reliability, we are dedicated to making Scotland s Railway more accessible and efficient.

“There is a lot of ongoing investment in our network with decarbonisation continuing, and improvements across the network. This new timetable is an important part of that.

“We re asking all of our customers to make sure they check their journeys before they try to travel as train times may have changed.”
