North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is inviting people to “make the days between Christmas and New Year extra special” by joining its steam-hauled excursions to the coastal town of Whitby.
The services will depart from Pickering Station at 11:10am every day (10:15am on Sundays) from Thursday 28 December to Sunday 7 January.
The train will travel through the North York Moors National Park on its eighteen-mile journey to Whitby, during which passengers can buy hot and cold drinks and tasty snacks from the buffet car.
Once the train arrives at Whitby, passengers will have just over an hour and a half (two and a half hours on Sundays) to spend in the town, visiting the beach, taking a brisk walk along the seafront, or just looking around. The train will departs from Whitby at 14:30 to head back to Pickering.
Passengers need to book their tickets in advance, and will be allocated a seat. Prices are:
- adult: £45 (member: £22.50)
- child: free
- dog: £3 (member: free)
- Premiere Life Member, adult: free
- carers of disabled passengers: free
Return visits using an Unlimited Annual Pass are valid on these services, and must be booked online with your unique code.
Those paying the standard £45 rate will get twelve months free to hop on and off the standard Bronze, Silver, and Gold services.
