Dovetail Games has released its new AT&SF Scenario Pack 01, enabling players to drive Santa Fe streamliners, the Fast Mail, manifest freights, coal trains and more.
The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (AT&SF), commonly known as the Santa Fe, was one of the world’s most famous railroads. It ran across the American west from Chicago to California, and hosted legendary streamliners such as the Super Chief and El Capitan.
The new scenario pack recreates “challenging and diverse” Santa Fe railroading from the 1950s, 1960s,and early 1970s. High Iron Simulations created the pack, which is available now from the Steam Store.
AT&SF Scenario Pack 01 includes ten career scenarios, involving Santa Fe trains climbing the grades of Colorado’s and New Mexico’s Raton Pass and travelling across the vast Arizona Divide.
Players will take the throttle of five types of classic AT&SF diesel power (the Electro-Motive F3, F7, GP7, and GP35 and the General Electric U28CG) and work as engineer on trains including the luxurious El Capitan, coal trains, mail trains and manifest freights.
They will also work across the lengths of two popular Train Simulation Classic routes, created by Milepost Simulations (routes available separately):
- the Raton Pass: Trinidad – Raton Route, and
- the Arizona Divide: Winslow – Williams Route
With AT&SF Scenario Pack 01, players will:
- board Santa Fe’s world-famous red-and-silver ‘Warbonnet’ Electro-Motive F3s to usher the magnificent hi-level El Capitan westbound across snowy Raton Pass on Christmas Eve;
- take the throttle of the eastbound El Capitan’s Warbonnet EMD F3s on a summer day as the beautiful streamliner makes the challenging run from Raton New Mexico to Trinidad, Colorado;
- hustle a AT&SF manifest freight which originated in Phoenix across the length of the Arizona Divide in a two-part scenario set in the 1950s, and handle switching en route with a trio of flashy Zebra-stripe EMD Geeps;
- climb and descend the 3 percent gradients of Raton Pass at the controls of the ponderous York Canyon coal train; ten diesels will be placed on the head and rear of ‘YK Coal’, with a pair of AT&SF silver-and-red GE U28CGs reassigned to freight service on the point;
- use the powerful, versatile and handsome blue-and-yellow EMD GP35s in various scenarios, including challenging switching work at East Flagstaff on the Arizona Divide and powering AT&SF Train 723 over a rainy Raton Pass;
- operate a set of AT&SF blue-and-yellow F7 covered wagons, westbound on the Arizona Divide, handling some switching work en route;
- take the throttle of a second section of Santa Fe’s famed Train 7 (the ‘Fast Mail), powered by steam-generator-equipped EMD GP7s making a fast night-time winter run across the snowy Arizona Divide.
The scenarios in AT&SF Scenario Pack 01 are closely based on actual railway operations and train numbers. Dovetail Game claims that they “deliver superb railroading realism to your Train Simulator Classic experiences”.
To use this scenario pack, players will need the Santa Fe Classic Pack 01; Arizona Divide: Winslow – Williams Route Add-on; and Raton Pass: Trinidad – Raton Route Add-On. They are available from the Steam Store.
