East Midlands Railway (EMR) services between Liverpool and Norwich may be affected on Friday, 8 December because of strike action by the union ASLEF at other train operators.
Although East Midlands Railway will be operating to its normal timetable on Friday on its Intercity, Connect, and Regional routes, because staff at train operators Northern and TransPennine Express are taking strike action, the Liverpool to Nottingham section of the Liverpool to Norwich route is likely to be very busy.
Where possible, East Midlands Railway will increase capacity on the Liverpool to Nottingham part of the route, but because of limitations in platform capacity but some stations will not be served, and services will not be calling at Dronfield, Ilkeston, Langley Mill, Widnes, Warrington Central, or Liverpool South Parkway.
An amended timetable for the Liverpool to Norwich route applicable for next Friday, December 8, can be viewed online here.
Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director, said: “Due to strike action affecting other operators – our services between Nottingham and Liverpool will be exceptionally busy on Friday.
“To help, we have made adjustments to capacity and other amendments to the service but customers will likely face extended journey times and they may not be able to board the service they planned to. They should also expect queues and longer journey times.
“We strongly urge customers to double check their journey before setting off.”
