As is normal when major football matches are played at Hampden Park, ScotRail will have special arrangements for this weekend’s Viaplay Scottish League Cup semi-finals.
On Saturday, 4 November, Hibernian play Aberdeen with a 17.15 kick-off, and, on Sunday, 5 November Hearts play Rangers with a 15.00 kick-off.
Before and after both games, extra carriages will be added to trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida and between Glasgow Central and Kings Park. However, ScotRail expects the trains to be busier than normal and is advising fans to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey.
Saturday, 4 November
Hibernian fans travelling to Hampden Park should travel on services from Glasgow Central to Kings Park and queue for their trains on the main concourse at Glasgow Central.
Aberdeen supporters should travel on services to Mount Florida and queue for their trains via the carriage driveway on Hope Street. Before the match, queueing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central with separate queues for each set of fans.
After the match, Aberdeen fans should travel home via Mount Florida, while Hibernian supporters should travel from Kings Park station.
Because of the queueing systems, fans should allow extra time for their journey.
Sunday, 5 November
Because the kickoff time is early evening, Aberdeen fans should plan their return journeys in advance, as there will be very few services available from Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen if the match goes to extra time or a penalty shoot-out.
Before the match, both Hearts and Rangers fans should queue on the main concourse at Glasgow Central station.
To reduce the need to queue when buying travel tickets, customers are advised to purchase their return tickets in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app, which allows them to buy their tickets from home or on the way to the station, and it will instantly be available on their mobile device.
Before and after the matches, there will be extra ScotRail available to help customers. Also, all fans are reminded that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “ScotRail is looking forward to helping fans travel to Hampden to cheer on their side in the men’s Scottish League Cup semi-finals.
“We’re asking customers heading to the games to plan ahead and allow more time for travel, as trains will be busy.
“We’ll be doing all we can to help you travel to the match as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats on train services to and from Mount Florida and Kings Park.
“Queuing systems will be in place before and after the matches so please make sure you know where to go. We have a dedicated?webpage?with more information, and our staff will also be on hand to direct you.
