ScotRail has confirmed that industrial action by train drivers starting on Saturday will not affect its services. However, its trains may be busier than usual, as passengers of train operating companies affected by the action choose to travel by instead.

Drivers’ union is in dispute with various UK train operating companies but this does not include ScotRail as it reached agreement with ASLEF over drivers’ pay earlier this year.

Members of ASLEF will strike on Saturday 2 December and Sunday 3 December, and again between Tuesday 5 December and Friday 8 December, hitting different train operators on different days. Drivers at those operators will also refuse to work non-contractual overtime between Friday 1 December and Saturday 9 December.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “This dispute does not involve any ScotRail staff. It is between ASLEF and other train operators, which means we’ll be able to operate as normal when the union members at those operators take industrial action between Friday, 1 and Saturday, 9 December.

“We would encourage anyone travelling to plan their journey in advance, as trains may be busier than normal due to customers of other operators travelling with ScotRail.”
