A number of employees at Northern, the second largest train operating company in the UK, are in line for national recognition after being nominated for prestigious RailStaff Awards.
The scheme, which recognises people from across the entire rail industry, rewards employees for their contribution to local rail services.
In all, eight individuals who work for Northern as well as the entire gateline team at Blackpool North station have received nominations.
Winners will be announced at a special ceremony to be held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 30 November.
Those nominated for awards include:
Becky Styles, a regional community and sustainability manager working across Greater Manchester, nominated in the ‘Sustainability and Net Zero‘ category
Doreen Southworth, based at Blackburn station in Lancashire, has been nominated in the ‘Station Staff Award’ category
Darin Astbury and Stewart Hall, who are both customer services assistants at Brinnington Station in Stockport, are nominated in the ‘Award for Charity’ category
Jane Murray, a station manager in Cumbria, is nominated for ‘Rail Manager of the Year’
John Cliff, who works as a customer services assistant at Liverpool Lime Street station, is nominated for the ‘Customer Service Award’
Marc Silverwood, Northern’s on-board systems manager, has been nominated in the ‘Digital Team of the Year’ category along with William Edwards, Northern’s digital trains project manager.
In addition, the ticket gateline team at Blackpool North station, Lancashire, has been nominated in both the ‘Rail Team of the Year’ and ‘Station Staff Award’ categories
