The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is again reminding people of its forthcoming Santa Express journeys, tickets for which went on sale in July.
The NYMR has been celebrating its fiftieth birthday this year, and after a busy operating season, is now gearing up to what it reckons will be its best Christmas yet. Centre stage will be the ultimate Christmas adventure, with passengers meeting Father Christmas and his helpers on board the Santa Express!
The Santa Specials will run during the weekends of 25-26 November and 2-3, 9-10, 16-17 and 23-24 December. NYMR invites families to join Santa and his team of playful elves for a festive dose laughter, joy and plenty of holiday spirit.
The Santa Specials will depart from Pickering or Grosmont stations. Carriages will be decked in Christmas finery, and Santa, helped by his team of elves, will make his way through the carriages giving presents to children.
- Pickering departure times: 09:55, 11:25, 13:00, or 14:55
- Grosmont departure times: 10:00, 11:30, 13:05, or 15:00

Luke Hudman, Marketing Manager at the NYMR said, “As we get excited for the festivities ahead, it’s important to remember that the winter season is when the NYMR team knuckle-down and carry out necessary maintenance to ensure locomotives are safe and running most efficiently. Rest assured that if you’re climbing aboard for one of the Santa Special services, you’re in for a fantastic experience and by purchasing your ticket you’ll also be donating vital funds to ensure the railway carries out important work to keep it steaming on into 2024.”
