Royal Scot steam locomotive to visit Dawlish this Wednesday

46100 Royal Scot is set to haul The English Riviera Express this Wednesday 18th October 2023, heading through Dawlish on its way to Kingswear.

The tour will depart Woking at 05:56 behind diesel locomotives (expected to be Class 47s), and will pass through Guildford (06:09), (06:36), Petersfield (06:54), Havant (07:13), Cosham (07:22), Fareham (07:33), Botley (07:54), (08:08), (08:38), (09:05), Westbury (09:42) and Taunton at 10:32, where 46100 Royal Scot joins the train.

Departing Taunton at 11:01, 46100 will pass through (11:35), Dawlish Warren (11:52), Dawlish (12:04), Paignton (12:29) and Kingswear at 13:10.

After time in Kingswear, 46100 Royal Scot will depart at 16:35 and will pass through Paignton (17:22), Dawlish (17:51), Exeter St Davids (18:17), Tiverton Parkway (18:49), and Taunton (19:46). Note that 46100 Royal Scot comes off the train just before Taunton station

The diesels will head back to Woking via the same route as the outbound journey, passing through Westbury (Wilts) (20:36), Salisbury (21:13), Romsey (21:37), Eastleigh (21:59), Botley (22:11), Fareham (22:27), Cosham (22:39), Havant (22:48), Petersfield (23:13), Haslemere (23:31), Guildford (23:48) and Woking at 23:59.

  1. 46100 was one of the very few trains to pass Dawlish on time today. Unfortunately 1C55 failed at Teignmouth at 0905 and it’s still there as I type this at 1850. Everything had to use the up line between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth. There have been multiple cancellations, some due to the storm and some due to the failed train (Hitachi 802102) at Teignmouth.
