Passengers arriving at Swinton station in South Yorkshire will be greeted by a new and colourful piece of artwork.
The mural was unveiled by Northern at an event attended by representatives of the train operating company, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and station adoption groups the Friends of Swinton, Friends of Mexborough and Friends of Chapeltown.
The Welcome to Swinton mural was the handiwork of Artworks, a not-for-profit creative arts group which aims to help adults with learning difficulties through creative workshops.
Additional artworks are on display at Swinton station waiting room, featuring the work of GCSE students in partnership with SYMCA.
Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the everyone involved for all their hard work. The mural can now be enjoyed by everyone in the community, and it brings a wonderful splash of colour to the station.”
