A fault with the signalling system at Oxted has disrupted train services between Uckfield and East Grinstead, and has affected Southern train services between London Victoria and East Grinstead, and London Bridge and Uckfield, and Thameslink services between Bedford and East Grinstead
The disruption is expected to last until 16:00, with no trains at all between Uckfield and East Grinstead. Anyone wishing to travel should use alternative Southern services between East Croydon and London Victoria, or Southern or Thameslink services between East Croydon and London Bridge.
Journeys on the alternative services will take at least an extra 60 minutes, and if possible passengers should if possible avoid travelling until later this afternoon.
Because of the cancellations, there will be reduction in mainline services between East Croydon and London.
An alternative travel option is by a limited rail replacement bus service between Uckfield and East Croydon and East Grinstead and East Croydon, with both services calling at Oxted only.
Rail tickets will also be accepted on METROBUS routes between East Grinstead and Three Bridges, Brighton & Hove Buses routes 28/29, and on Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells and London.
An alternative route map can be found here, and a live service map can be viewed here.
Network Rail engineers are currently attending the fault to carry out the required repairs, and expect to finish by 15:30. Southeastern will issue updates on progress when it becomes available. Journeys can also be checked on the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner
Anyone who is affected by the delays may be entitled to compensation. Customers should keep their train tickets and make a note of their journeys, as both will be required to support any claim.
As well as the disruption to services between Uckfield and East Grinstead, there is a problem with the signalling system at London Bridge that is affecting Southeastern services between there and London Charing Cross.
As a result, train services between London Bridge and London Charing Cross may be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised. The disruption is expected to last until 14:00 and will affect Southeastern services between Dover Priory, Ramsgate, Hastings, Maidstone East, Sevenoaks, Hayes, Gravesend, and London Charing Cross.
