Translink, who provides public transport for Northern Ireland, has revealed that they are holding a special prize draw for schools which will see well-known street artist Danni Simpson, hold an exclusive masterclass for the lucky winner.
Danni specialises in commercial murals and illustration and is originally from Australia and is currently based in Northern Ireland.
Her stunning work is featured all over the world, including the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Electric Picnic. You may also recognise her work across a number of popular brands. Danni’s unique style sees a clash of floral illustration, pattern work and architectural inspiration creating vivid shapes with incredible line detail and bold colour.
Translink’s creative project comes as part of its Life Better. campaign, which aims to celebrate public transport’s role in connecting people with what really matters in a bid to strengthen communities whilst dealing with the crisis brought by climate change.
As part of the ongoing project, Danni recently created an urban-style mural detailing well-known locations which Translink has toured around Northern Ireland’s towns and cities in order to build connection with the theme and also offer a chance to colour in the unique artwork.
Danni said:
“Our recent Life Better. Connected mural roadshow was a great success with so many people showcasing their artistic talent.”
“We’re now calling on all budding young artists out there to encourage their school to enter Translink’s special prize draw for the chance to win this unique masterclass visit. I’m really looking forward to sharing my own experience as a young artist and helping pupils explore their creative potential.”
The lucky pupils who get to take part in the masterclass will learn about Danni and her inspiration in creating her colourful art alongside a showcase of the Translink Life Better. Connected mural before going on to create their own original artwork under Danni’s expert guidance.
The draw is available to primary and post-primary schools for pupils up to year 10, with an entry deadline of Saturday the 30th of September.
