Saturday the 9th of September will see the amazing Pickering Rocks family music festival taking place in the delightful town’s Market Place and will see a number of diversions and road closures in action.
The event will take place from 12.00 to 18.00, with diversions and road closures set to be in place from 11.00 to 19.00.
North Yorkshire Moors Railway of the following impact on road travel advises visitors heading to Pickering Station as follows:
Vehicles cannot travel along the following roads:
- Ropery Road,
- Market Place
- Smiddy Hill
Alternative routes will be signposted on the day and provide access to the North Yorkshire Moors’ main car park in Pickering via:
- Southgate
- Westgate
- Potter Hill
- Bridge Street

Those departing from Pickering Station on the 9th of September are advised to leave extra time in order to make their journey.
The festival coincides with a number of free Heritage Open Day activities taking place at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Friday the 8th to Sunday, the 17th of September. The events aim to celebrate the history of industry, innovation and invention and Saturday the 9th will see the heritage railway host the following events as part of its itinerary:
- Signalling Challenge at Pickering
- Motive Power Walking Department Tours at Grosmont
- Just the Ticket family-friendly interactive trail
