Police are appealing for members of the public who may have witnessed an attack on a train at railway station to come forward.

Detectives are particularly interested to hear from witnesses, particularly those who may have mobile phone footage of the attack.

A group of masked people attacked football fans who were on board a train at the station which is situated around five miles east of city centre. The station is on the North Clyde Line, providing services towards Edinburgh, Airdrie, Balloch and Helensburgh Central.

The incident took place at 19.00 on Saturday 2 September.

The group of around 15 people boarded the service at Garrowhill.

All had their faces covered and attacked a number of football supporters, took some of their property and created a disturbance.  They managed to leave the train before it departed the station.

Anyone with information is asked to contact by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, with reference 447 of 2 September.

Alternatively, members of the public can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
