A host of improvements have been completed by Greater Anglia at Harlow Mill station in Essex that will provide great benefits for travellers from the station.
Outside the station, ten extra car parking spaces have been added, bringing the total to 34 spaces as well as an additional space for blue badge holders. Cyclists will benefit from a new, secure, 12-space cycle storage facility that has LED lighting and CCTV cameras, which is six more spaces than were there originally.
For the first time since the station was opened the car park is not illuminated after the installation of LED lighting.
Inside the station, the waiting area on platform 1, which is used by trains bound for London, has been improved with the addition of an enclosed room and seating so that passengers can now wait in sleek surroundings with new seating, improved LED lighting, and a heating and cooling system. There is also a book swap shelf where passengers can pass on books they have already read to others while picking up new ones for themselves.
In line with Greater Anglia’s aim for a wider safeguarding strategy that seeks to ensure that everyone has access to emotional support if they need it, Network Rail has funded the installation of a screen in the new waiting area that displays safety and well-being information from emotional support charities Samaritans and Shout. The new screen will also display information from the Hub of Hope App, which is a national mental health database that brings help and support together in one place.
In the new covered area next to the new waiting room Greater Anglia has installed an extra ticket machine.
Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said: The work at Harlow Mill means that passengers have a modern waiting area, improved lighting, and better cycle storage facilities.
I would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.
Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.

Except that Greater Anglia should sort out Wickford station with a new station building and new waiting room since it last had a building. Before it got knocked down and platform one extended to accommodate the 5-Car Class 720 train working on the Crouch Valley Line shuttle service between Wickford and Southminster. And platform 3 also needs some improvements.
