Members of the public are being asked to assist in an investigation into an assault on board a tram at Winson Green.

British Transport Police have released an image of a man they believe could help with their inquiries.  The assault took place at the Winson Green stop at around 16.30 on Thursday 10 August. The tram had left Wolverhampton and was travelling towards Birmingham city centre.

During an on-board ticket check, the conductor advised a passenger that he would need to purchase a new ticket as he had produced an invalid one. Following his refusal to purchase a new ticket the man was asked to leave at the next stop.  He proceeded to spit at the conductor and then left the tram stop.
