Because of industrial action and strikes by members of ASLEF and the RMT unions, Greater Anglia train services will be severely disrupted next Saturday, 26 August and the following Friday and Saturday, 1 and 2 September.

Details of the changed timetables are available online from Enquiries or www.greateranglia.co.uk, and journey planners will be updated three days before each strike date with the correct train times.

On the days affected by industrial action, services may be altered or cancelled at short-notice. On the days following strike days services may start slightly later than normal.

As well as Greater Anglia, other train operators will also be affected by the industrial action.

Passenger assistance will be available as normal on all strike days, but if possible, anyone requiring assistance should plan their journey and book assistance in advance.

26 August and 2 September

Services will run on the following routes, but only between 07:00 and 19:00 on 26 August and between 07:00 and 23:00 on 2 September:

  • Cambridge – London Liverpool Street
  • Ipswich – Cambridge
  • Norwich –

There will be no services on the following routes:

  • Ipswich Felixstowe
  • Colchester – via Colchester Town
  • Bishop s Stortford
  • Hertford East – London Liverpool Street
  • Meridian Water Stratford

Saturday, 26 August only:

There will be no Great Eastern Main Line services because of engineering works but rail replacement buses will be provided.

Friday, 1 September

It has only just been announced that there will be a strike on Friday, 1 September. Service plans for that day are currently being formulated, and will be provided as soon as they are known. It is probable only a very reduced service will operate, for reduced hours, and only on the following routes:

  • Norwich – London Liverpool Street
  • Colchester – London Liverpool Street
  • Victoria – London Liverpool Street
  • Stansted Airport – London Liverpool Street.

Saturday, 2 September only:

Mainline services between Norwich and Ipswich, and regional services between Ipswich and Cambridge/ Peterborough will be affected by engineering works.

Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia s managing director, said: “With industrial action taking place, on 26 August and 2 September there will be some alterations and cancellations across our network, plus some routes where no trains will run at all, while on 1 September it is expected that trains only will operate on four routes, with no services at all on the rest of the network.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these service alterations and advise customers to plan ahead and check before they travel.

“Trains will be running across the company s network between 07:00 and 23:00 (or until 19.00 in the case of three routes on 26 August), with many routes having a normal or near normal service between those hours. Some routes will have a reduced frequency and certain routes will see no services at all.”
