Steam locomotive to pass through Ribblehead this Thursday

A Carnforth based steam locomotive is set to haul part of The Dalesman on Thursday, 10th August 2023.

The tour starts behind a diesel locomotive at York, and will depart at 08:25 and will pass through Church Fenton (08:37), (09:24), Kirkgate (09:31), (09:40), Leeds (09:58), Keighley (10:58), (11:13) and Hellifield at 11:28.

Here, the steam locomotive, which hasnt been confirmed yet, will be added to the train. Departing Hellifield at 12:19, the train will pass through (12:41), Appleby (13:19), Langwathby (13:35) and Carlisle at 14:17.

Passengers have around 2 hours in Carlisle, whilst the locomotive is serviced. Departing Carlisle at 16:27, the train will take the same route as the outbound journey, passing through Appleby at 17:17, Kirkby Stephen (17:47), Ribblehead (18:15), Hellifield (18:34 – Diesel hauled from here), Skipton (19:50), Keighley (20:07), Leeds (20:44), Wakfield Westgate (21:10), Normanton (21:23), Church Fenton (21:51) and York at 22:06.
