The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has released its preliminary examination into two incidents where trains exceeded the permitted speed in Scotland.
On 15th July 2023, the trains were travelling between Stirling and Perth in Scotland and exceeded the max permitted speed between Blackford Signal Box and Gleneagles station.
The RAIB says that they found that a blanket emergency speed restriction had been put in place due to forecasted extreme rainfall.
After their preliminary examination, the RAIB says that they are going to publish a safety digest, which will be made available in the next few weeks.
