Northern reveals its most popular destinations for summer so far

Northern has revealed a list which details its most popular destinations for summer so far as customers enjoy leisure travel by train in the North of England.

The list is as follows, running in order of popularity:

1st  – Manchester

Manchester is a fantastic bustling city to visit and has been selected by Lonely Planet as a must-visit destination for 2023. The city has something to offer everyone with an impressive art scene, incredible eateries and shopping to rival the biggest cities in the world.

2nd – Leeds

Leeds offers an incredible array of cultural events alongside a fabulous shopping experience. The city is also well known for its vibrant nightlife and creates a fantastic place to visit for those looking for an inner-city adventure.

3rd – Blackpool

Blackpool is known as the ‘Entertainment Capital of the North’ and offers a traditional seaside experience for families with its famous Pleasure Beach, impressive Blackpool Tower, delightful trams and sandy beaches.

4th –

Liverpool has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famously home of The Beatles, alongside many other popular bands and musicians over the decades. The city offers its unique and rich history, stunning waterfront and a good number of cultural attractions.

5th – Sheffield

Sheffield is a city surrounded by stunning countryside, including the . Alongside its stunning green spaces. The city offers a fantastic art scene with stunning examples of street art, several theatres and impressive eateries offering plenty to do for all the family.

Hull was the UK City of Culture for 2017 and continues to offer a wonderful experience for visitors with impressive museums, the historic Old Town and its beautiful marina.

7th – Newcastle

Well known across the country for its friendly locals, Newcastle brings a mix of historical landmarks and stunning modern architecture and for those seeking a vibrant nightlife, the city is the place to come.

8th – York

York is a breathtaking medieval city with plenty to keep history fans busy. The city features several impressive museums, the incredible York Minster and, of course, for those seeking a Harry Potter vibe, the wonderful shambles are well worth a visit.

9th – Chester

Chester boasts a wealth of Roman heritage, and its stunning timbered buildings certainly bring history to life. The city is always popular with history lovers and also holds a fantastic shopping scene too.

10th –

Nottingham is a city with a fascinating history, which is certainly worth investigating alongside the legend of Robin Hood. The city’s Caves are well worth a visit alongside many of its amazing museums and excellent shops and eateries.
