Milestone reached in overhaul of Blue Peter steam locomotive

Locomotive Services Group have announced that a milestone has been reached in the overhaul of No. 60532 Blue Peter.

60532 is the sole surviving A2 and is owned by the  and is undergoing its overhaul at .

The group revealed today (21st August) that a boiler hydraulic test was completed at their works in Crewe.

A hydraulic test gives the locomotive its boiler certificate and starts the clock on the loco.

The Boiler Inspector was at Crewe to see the pressure of the boiler rise to 340psi.

This means that the staff at LSG can now move on to a steam test of the boiler and means Blue Peter is one step closer to returning to the mainline.

  1. Shortly there will be more trains of heritage running than those trains running in service. Interestingly enough, many train times were better under steam than now. As for the Great central, it seems strange that the government closed the GCR and are now playing about with a modern version destroying more than was destroyed by the GCR originally! Guess that is another steam record being broken!

  2. Great news, and another step to seeing her return. Hopefully she will be out shopped in Apple Green

    Then all we need is Flying Scotsman back in Apple Green and Bittern also overhauled and in Green for aa A1 A2 A3 A4 line up
