Manchester’s Levenshulme station hosts art depicting local attractions

station in is now home to a series of colourful artworks that celebrate the area’s heritage and architecture.

The images were created by local artist Eamonn Murphy, and portray several local attractions, each headed with the words ‘Stop here for’:

  • Levenshulme Antiques Village, which has hosted antiques buyers and sellers at the old Town Hall for more than thirty years
  • Levenshulme market, a community-run social enterprise open every weekend between March and December

  • the Fallowfield Loop, a former railway line which Sustrans developed and built as a cycle path and which is also popular with walkers

  • Cringle park, which has sports and play facilities

  • Green Bank Fields, which also contains sports pitches, as well as walking areas and mature trees.

Craig Harrop, regional director at Northern, said: “The artwork looks absolutely fantastic.

“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we encourage and support projects like this on our stations.

“As well as welcoming passengers to the station, this work also celebrates the heritage of Levenshulme and I would like to thank everyone involved in this project.”
