Hitachi Group has revealed that it will donate $100,000 in order to support those affected by the raging wildfires and also to aid the rebuilding of communities in Maui.
$80,000 Of the donation has been allotted to the Japanese Red Cross Society, whilst $20,000 has been made to the Aloha United Way’s Maui Fire Relief Fund which was set up in order to offer immediate relief to those affected by the natural disaster providing food, emergency shelter and supplies.
Domenico Fortinguerra, Hitachi Rail Honolulu Project Director, said:
“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the devastating fires on Maui. Our more than 200 Hitachi Rail Honolulu employees have loved ones affected by the destruction. We send our deepest condolences to everyone.”
Further to the donations above, Hitachi Group companies will continue to offer assistance programs for disaster relief and climate change to organisations such as the American Red Cross and US nonprofit organisation Conservation International. These donations will be made through a service created by Benevity Inc. which sees the company match donations made by its employees.
The Hitachi Group is hoping for the fastest possible recovery to the locations impacted by the wildfires in Maui.
