A points scheme has been launched by , where anyone buying train tickets through Virgin Trains Ticketing will receive points that can be used to obtain discounts on future ticket purchases.

Travellers who use Virgin Trains Ticketing to book any train ticket across Great Britain will be awarded three Virgin Points for every £1 they spend. Once they have accrued 200 points, they can receive discounts on future tickets and earn even more points at the same time. So, the more times you book, the more points you earn, and the more you pounds save.

As well as obtaining discounted, or even free, train travel, the points open up hundreds of ways in which they can be spent with Virgin Red. These come with a whole range of exciting rewards, including flights, wine, gigs, and holidays, or even morning coffee.

Virgin points are worth £1 for every 200 points, so 1,000 points are worth £5, 10,000 points are worth £50, and 50,000 points are worth £250.

Earlier this year, Virgin Trains ran a promotion to celebrate the Coronation that gave double points for tickets book through the app.

To celebrate the launch of Virgin Points, customers who book with Virgin Trains Ticketing have the chance to win one million Virgin Points with every booking. To be in with a chance to win, customers just need to book their train travel on the Virgin Trains Ticketing app between 13th July and 27th August and use their unique promotional code to enter the prize draw on Virgin Red.

Virgin Trains Ticketing has also simplified finding the cheapest ticket as it provides the options for splitting tickets. There are no booking fees for using the so customers can get the same journey for less money.

  1. So you need to spend £16,667 just to get £250 worth of points – from a company that threw the towel in (WCML), doesn’t have a train franchise and at a time when ticket office jobs are being threatened.
