South Western Railway (SWR) services between next Saturday, 29th July and Saturday, 12th August will be subject to disruption due to industrial action by RMT and ASLEF unions.
During this period, customers should only travel if absolutely necessary as services will be significantly reduced, and check for the latest travel updates at southwesternrailway.com/strike
On the Island Line, normal services will operate on Saturday 29 July. From Monday, 31st July until Saturday, 5th August, services will operate hourly. Because of the industrial action, services from Monday, 7th to Saturday, 12th August will be confirmed later.
On Saturday, 29th July, large parts of the South Western Railway network will be closed. Services will only operate between 07.00 and 19.00, with the last trains departing from about 17.00.
Between Monday, 31st July and Saturday, 5th August, members of the ASLEF union are taking industrial action and there will be a reduced timetable across the South Western Railway network. Journey planners will be updated on Friday 28 July.
On Saturday, 5th August, because of engineering work in the Staines area, no trains will operate between Barnes and Feltham via Hounslow.
The ASLEF union is taking further industrial action Monday, the 7th and Saturday. 12th August and information on South Western Railway services during this period will be confirmed in due course.
Stuart Meek, South Western Railway’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “I am sorry to say that strike action by the RMT union and industrial action by the ASLEF union will affect our services in the coming weeks.
“On Saturday 29 July, strike action by the RMT union will mean that we will operate a significantly reduced service with large parts of our network closed. Customers should only travel if their journeys are absolutely necessary. Customers should also note the times of the last trains of the day, which will be much earlier than usual.
“A ban on overtime working by the ASLEF union will then affect our network between Monday 31 July and Saturday 5 August. A reduced timetable will operate across our network and customers should check before they travel.
“We have started planning for the ASLEF union overtime ban that will take place between Monday 7 and Saturday 12 August. Services during this period will be announced in due course.
“We are very sorry for the large amount of disruption our customers will experience as a result of this damaging action by the RMT and ASLEF unions.”
