Eurostar workers have agreed a pay deal following negotiations between the RMT union of railway bosses.
The deal sees Eurostar staff get a pay rise of between 8 and 17% depending on their role.
This works out to be a minimum uplift of £4,300 for everyone on £45,000 and below.
Other measures are included in the deal, including increase in travel benefits, 100% basic pay for weeks 27-40 of maternity leave and support for brining in greater digital services.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “I congratulate our members on securing a negotiated settlement on pay and conditions.
“We have negotiated a settlement on pay, secured jobs and improved the conditions for our members.
“This approach from Eurostar is a far cry away from the train operating companies who want to cut thousands of jobs, close hundreds of ticket offices and offer us a measly pay deal.
“RMT has negotiated pay deals on every part of the railway where the Department of Transport does not have the mandate over the rail operators.”
Responses
What the RMT will not admit is that the offer they have turned down from the train companies is identical to the offer they have accepted from Network Rail. The ongoing dispute is blatantly motivated by the politics of the far left. Both sides ought to be locked in a room and the key hidden until they get this whole thing sorted out. The public have had far too much disruption from this dispute.
Any evidence of your belief John that the deals are the same?
Can you tell me why would the RMT allow their members working for Network Rail accept a pay deal, yet RMT workers with train companies are Not allowed to be given the same pay deal. My thought is that Mick Lynch Wants to RUIN the train companies.
Mick Lynch wants all train companies public owned again. I know this for a fact because an Uncle of mine is working with Mick to coordinate the strikes.
I think you will find,John, that whilst the media are saying the deal is similar that the conditions of acceptance are not!
