Rail travel advice released for upcoming Manchester United v Olympique Lyonnais in Scotland

Manchester United are set to take on Olympique Lyonnais in a pre-season match next Wednesday (19th July 2023) and has released travel advice for fans.

The match is set to take place at the BT Murrayfield Stadium on Wednesday 19th July 2023 at 2pm. Additionally, Red Hot Chilli Peppers are perfoming at Hampden Park in on Sunday 23rd July 2023.

Passengers are being urged to plan ahead and allow more time than normal as services will be much busier than normal.

With regards to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert, ScotRail says it is adding more trains between and .

For football fans, ScotRail has reminded passengers that access to station is restricted due to ongoing redevelopment work.

To assist with crowd control, especially after the match due to commuters and football fans both heading home, ScotRail has encouraged fans to join the holding area at Haymarket Terrace where they will be directed to the appropriate queue.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’re looking forward to helping football fans and music lovers travel by train to see Manchester United play Olympique Lyonnais at BT Murrayfield and Red Hot Chili Peppers perform at Hampden Park.

“To support the events, we’ll be running more trains, and adding more seats to services, to accommodate the higher demand.

“We encourage customers to follow our travel advice to make their journey as smooth as possible. Leave extra time for travel as trains are likely to be busier than normal, and buy your tickets in advance through our mTickets system as it will reduce your queuing time.”
