Children’s TV character Marshall from PAW Patrol will meet visitors to Leighton Buzzard Railway‘s Stonehenge Works on Sunday 23 July.

Last year, it welcomed Chase and Skye from the popular TV show.

The Bedfordshire railway will run five trains during the day, from its base at Page’s Park, Leighton Buzzard, to its Stonehenge Works and back.

The trains will not stop at level crossings as they usually do, and will be longer than usual, with seven coaches.

The five trains will depart at 1000, 1140, 1320, 1500 and 1640.

The return trip will take eighty minutes, which includes forty minutes at Stonehenge Works, which is adjacent to the sand quarry which the railway line was built to serve.

Visitors will also be able to:

• meet fire-fighting dalmatian puppy Marshall
• view static engines and wagons on the Stonehenge Trail, including a sand train as it would have run between the 1920s and 1970s
• climb into the cab of steam loco ‘Penlee’
• see a bomb train from an RAF ammunition depot, and a logging train
• view displays about sand quarrying and military railways
• take a guided Engine Shed Show tour at Page’s Park, including most of the Railway’s steam locomotives and a photographic display of the line and its construction
• buy locally-made items, and hot and cold drinks and confectionery, at the craft shop
• sample the full menu at the newly-opened The Really Awesome café from 10:00.

The Leighton Buzzard Railway is an accredited museum which celebrates the history of the town’s sand quarrying industry. As well as addition to equipment from that era, the Railway also has a significant collection of Great War vintage narrow gauge equipment.

LBR is the base for the Greensand Railway Museum Trust’s Baldwin 4-6-0T WDLR No. 778. The National Railway Museum previously loaned its ‘protected’ type Simplex No. 3098 (MR1377/1918) to LBR.
