Travellers using the Northern network can now enjoy upgraded customer information services, thanks to the deployment of 230 new display screens across 93 distinct stations.
The innovative white LED technology in these screens enhances visibility from extended distances and provides superior colour contrast, an advancement particularly valuable to those with specific visual impairments.
The new displays have been meticulously redesigned to provide train information in an easy-to-understand format, providing more precise details about train delays. These screens display vital safety information, such as ‘short platform’ alerts.
Northern’s larger stations, namely Bolton, Bradford Interchange, and Sunderland, have been equipped with vibrant full-colour screens for a high-quality visual experience. Furthermore, installing 175 new public announcement speakers at various stations has significantly improved auditory communication.
The comprehensive list of stations that have benefited from the new screen installations includes Adlington (Lancashire), Adwick, Aspatria, Askam, Atherton, Bamford, Bare Lane, Battersby, Bempton, Blackrod, Bolton, Bolton-on-Dearne, Brighouse, Bromley Cross, Castleton (Greater Manchester), Castleton Moor, Chinley, Church & Oswaldtwistle, Clitheroe, Commondale, Conisbrough, Cross Gates (Yorks), Daisy Hill, Danby, Darwen, Denby Dale, Earlestown, East Garforth, Edale, Egton, Elsecar, Entwistle, Euxton Balshaw Lane, Farnworth, Flowery Field, Garforth, Glaisdale, Grindleford, Grosmont, Gypsy Lane, Hag Fold, Hall I’ th’ Wood, Halifax, Hapton, Hartlepool, Hatfield & Stainforth, Hathersage, Hattersley, Hebden Bridge, Hindley, Hope (Derbyshire), Ince, Irlam, James Cook University Hospital, Kirk Sandall, Langho, Lealholm, Leyland, Littleborough, Longbeck, Lostock, Marske, Marton, Mexborough, Micklefield, Millom, Mills Hill, Moston, Mytholmroyd, Nunthorpe, Padgate, Prestbury, Ramsgreave & Wilpshire, Redcar Central, Redcar East, Riding Mill, Saltburn, Sleights, Smithy Bridge, Stocksfield, Sunderland, Swinton (Greater Manchester), Thorne South, Todmorden, Ulleskelf, Walkden, Walsden, Wetheral, Whalley, Whitby, Wombwell, Woodhouse, Wylam, Westhoughton, and several others.
