East Lancashire Railway in Bury is inviting families to its fun-filled summer events.
The Railway is hosting several events aimed at entertaining youngsters suring the school holidays, including Day Out With Thomas, Hey Duggee Family Fun Day, Peppa Pig Family Fun Day, and a wacky trip to Wonderland.
It will also stage a Classic Car Show.
Day Out With Thomas: 5 and 6 August; and 30 September and 1 October
Stean locomotive Thomas is returning to East Lancashire for one a big adventure.
Visitors will meet Sir Topham Hatt at the station then board a carriage and ride behind Thomas through the countryside on a fun-filled journey from Bury to Ramsbottom and back.
They can also take part in activities at the Bury Transport Museum, including performances from Sodor’s cheeky station sweepers Rusty and Dusty, modelling with balloons, face painting and funfair rides.
Hey Duggee Family Fun Day, 24 and 25 August
Duggee explores Bury Transport Museum, inviting visitors to join him for activities such as a selection of funfair rides, face painting and crafts.
The day also includes a trip on a heritage steam train through the Irwell Valley on a real heritage steam train.
Peppa Pig Family Fun Day, 31 August and 1 September
Children’s TV favourites Peppa and George will visiting the railway for a fun day at Bury Transport Museum.
Visitors will be able to take part in Peppa’s activity trail, a funfair, face painting, crafts, and meet farmyard friends at the petting zoo.
There will also be a train trip through the Irwell Valley.
The Wizarding Adventure, 16 July, 10 and 17 August
Graduate ftom the Wizard Academy after taking lessons in the basics of broomsticks, practising potion making, being instructed in incantations, and learning to tattle and talk with a tawny owl.
The ninety-mminute adventure includes a round trip on a heritage steam train with plenty of photo opportunities.
Travel to Wonderland, 11 August
Visitors are invited to take a tumble down the rabbit hole for a curious adventure in Wonderland with Alice and friends.
The two-hour experience includes a steam train ride from Bury to Rawtenstall where visitors will meet colourful characters and take part in themed activities with plenty of opportunities to take photos.
Dino Adventure, 18 August
This ninety-minute event takes visitors on a steam train journey from Bury to Rawtenstall and back, with expert handlers teaching passengers about dinosaurs and awarding them a dino diploma. There will be dinosaur-themed activities and plenty of photo opportunities.
Classic Car Show, 30 July
East Lancashire Railway is again hosting its popular Classic Car Show. The collection of cars will be on display at both Bury Transport Museum and Heywood Station from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free with standard admission to the railway.
