Cancer charity receives thousands from Jazz Train at Yorkshire railway

A Yorkshire heritage railway’s Jazz Train has raised £3,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The , which provides a discount for RailAdvent Plus members, ran the Jazz Train on Saturday 17th June 2023 and included an auction of promises.

A raffle was also held on board the train between Leeming Bar and Leyburn.

Peter Edmonds, band spokesperson said: “It was great to see so many people support us. The evening was a huge success and we are delighted to have raised £3,700 in aid of Macmillan Nurses. This is the highest amount we’ve raised to date and shows just how much people care about this amazing cause.”

Bob Young, band spokesperson added: “On behalf of all the band members, we’d like to thank everyone who purchased tickets and supported the raffle and auction of promises.”

Nick Keegan, Wensleydale Railway Fundraising and Marketing Manager said: “We were very happy to host this event and support the band and guests with their tremendous fundraising efforts. We have such an amazing local community in !”
